To the Polish Heroes of the Second World War is a solo
composition for accordion describing the oppression and
the fight of Poles during World War II. There is a short,
free introduction, a main theme and a slow conclusion.
There is no triumphant victory. What is shown, on the
other hand, is a great trouble that accompanies the
fight with the invader, a hard life of the population and a
great pain. When I was writing this work I saw pictures of
horribly destroyed Warsaw in front of my eyes. Nothing
but ruins, smoke and the sound of the battle. A street,
a grey day, and a single mother pushing a pram down
the destroyed street. This work is my personal homage
to the Polish heroes, especially to my own Grandfather
who bravely fought in the cavalry defending the borders
of the Rzeczpospolita (the Polish Republic).
