about

The Wounded Heart is a piano piece
telling about a boy whose love was rejected by a
woman. It is a story about his sadness and the pains of
a broken heart. He declared his love to her, but she said:
“This is not good”. The opening sequence shows the boy’s
breakdown and then there is a portrayal of his feeling
fading away, but we can also hear indignation, anger
and rebellion against the unfair fate. She only valued
his frankness, but otherwise remained indifferent and
even reluctant. His state was deteriorating and as such
stayed for a long time. He had to deal with it on his own.
Left alone in solitude and sadness, he withdrew from
the world and the people even further. Occasionally
we can perceive grief and growing tension. Explosion of
emotions and an instinctive urge to fight for his beloved.
But being a man of culture and modesty, well aware of
the negative consequences of making a nuisance of
himself, he decided to retire into the shadow. He still
hopes, however, that he did not make a mistake when
he left her a free path to happiness and love. The middle
part of the composition clearly expresses his fight with
himself when he tries to overcome his negative feelings
and emotions. His desperate call for a brighter tomorrow
sets a splendid melancholy scene. Finally he is at the
end of his tether and gives in, surrenders, tolerates the
unfair fate. He gives himself up to waiting in hope that a
better time will come and he will meet his one true love,
his other half. He believes in the old adage that when
a man is born, his or her soul before coming down to
earth is divided into two halves and the whole trick is
to find the other half. When that happens love will be
pure and happy. His assessment of the situation was
wrong and his voyage on the high seas was premature.
He had to call it quits and get back to the port in no time.
On the other hand though, had he not tried it, he may
never have found out himself that the winds were not
propitious and the boat was too fragile. Zranione serce
is a work about ill-placed feelings and the pain that
unrequited love brings.
